Singapore: Singapore market opens up to Polish beef

At this year’s FHA-Food & Beverage (FHA) trade fair in Singapore, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was represented by Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski. During the event, discussions were held with representatives of the Singaporean administration on the possibility of increasing Polish agri-food exports to Singapore, in particular, of opening up the Singaporean market to Polish beef. Chief Veterinary Officer Krzysztof Jażdżewski and Director-General of the National Support Centre for Agriculture Henryk Smolarz accompanied Deputy Minister Krajewski.

At the Polish national stand, 18 food companies showcased their products, including meat and cereal products, confectionery, fruit and vegetable preserves, honey, beverages and organic products. Poland’s FHA stand was prepared by the National Support Centre for Agriculture. Singaporean visitors could also learn more about Polish exports at the stand of the National Chamber of Commerce – Promotion Centre, as part of the “Taste of Europe” promotional programme.

While visiting the fair, Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski met with Polish exhibitors and distributors of Polish food products in Singapore. He also attended a networking session with delegations from Central and Eastern European countries.

Singapore market opens up to Polish beef

Deputy Minister Stefan Krajewski met with Dr Tan Lee Kim, Director-General of the Singapore Food Authority. As a result, the Singapore market is now open to Polish beef. The wording of the health certificate that will accompany the Polish beef to be shipped to Singapore was also agreed at the meeting.

This decision aligns perfectly with the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Singapore.

Potential for expanding Polish agri-food exports to Singapore

On Wednesday 24 April, the Polish delegation met with Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment, Dr Amy Khor, and with representatives of Singaporean importers’ associations, major agri-food traders and trade associations in meat, fruit and vegetable sectors. They discussed the potential for boosting Polish agri-food exports to Singapore and increasing Poland’s contribution to Singapore’s food security efforts.

Trade between Poland and Singapore

Singapore is a target markets for Polish agri-food exports in Asia and in countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In 2023, Poland sold a total of EUR 36.2m worth of food to Singapore. The main export products include flours, meals and pellets, of meat or offal, fish (EUR 12.7m), birds’ eggs, in shells (EUR 3.92m), and bread and pastries (EUR 2.83m).

Polish operators can export poultry and pork meat to the Singaporean market under HPAI and ASF regionalisation rules.
